TOP 4 EV (Electric Vehicles) Friendly Cities in the United States

With the increasing awareness among people to reduce green-house emissions, more and more people are moving towards Electric Vehicles.

Looking at this trend most of the automobile manufacturer around the US are now producing electric vehicles, as a result the number of electric vehicles sold since 2008 in the United States have crossed 400,000. As the electric network across the country is developing, an increasing number of electric vehicle charging stations are coming up throughout the nation. Throughout the nation electric as Smart Electricity Network is growing and enabling different energy providers to deliver new and clean sources of electricity to people, which ultimately is helping us to charge our electric vehicles with ease.

San Francisco:

As we all know that San Francisco recycle everything, be it the composting generated on daily basis and also to operate more than  50,000 Electric Vehicles registered across the San Francisco. You think of anything green a city can do, San Francisco does it the best.

San Francisco aims to complete the transition to 100% renewable electrical power by 2030, in line with the objectives of the City’s 0-80-100 Climate Action framework.

In April 2018, San Francisco committed to accelerate GHG emission reductions and pledged to achieve net-zero GHG emissions by 2050. The pledge aligns with the goals adopted in the 2016 Paris Climate Agreement to take urgent action to limit global warming to under 1.5 Celsius/2.7 degrees F.

San Francisco, is called the capital of Electric Vehicle Country in the United States, because of the number of Electric Vehicles running on the roads and the number of electric vehicle charging points available for these vehicles across the city to charge at ease. So, undoubtedly San Francisco appears at number one spot in our list.

Los Angeles:

When talking about Electric Vehicles you cannot ignore Los Angeles, CA. This city is one of the top cities for driving Electric Vehicles in the United States. Los Angeles has over 60000 EVs registered which is much higher than any other city in the United States even higher than San Francisco.

he total number of all electric vehicles in California rose from 300 in 2010 to 99704 in 2019. Not only this – the BEV market share has also increased from 0.0% (2010) to 5.3% in 2019.

But still it ranks at number two on our list only because of the fact that it has lesser number of Electric Chargers available / installed within the city when compared to San Francisco. In 2015, Los Angeles Mayor, Eric Garvetti, pledged to install 1000 new charging stations by 2017. As a result as per latest data there are 2297 level 2 charging stations and 271 level 3 charging stations are installed within 10 miles of Los Angeles and the number will increased in coming times.

So, once the Los Angeles city will improve upon its electric chargers numbers no one will be surprised to see LA at the top.

Seattle:

Seattle, Washington is at number three after San Francisco, OR and Los Angeles, CA. Seattle stands at number three if we will see the market share EV adopters and number two if we will compare the Electric Chargers available across the city. Overall, it stands at number three in our list of top cities for driving EVs in the United States.

As per latest data there are 2057 charging stations in Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue areas, which makes it very easy for EV owners to charge with ease while on the move. As per the data the state of Washington produces around 29% of total hydroelectricity in the United States, which is the largest source of power available to the people and businesses.

Seattle’s electricity–gasoline price differential is more favorable to EVs: Seattle has one of the lowest electricity rates in the nation (~$0.111/kWh) and the third-highest gasoline prices in the nation ($3/gallon in January 2019); this improves operational cost savings for EV owners, resulting in average annual savings of $1,250 per vehicle.

So, due to these reason they have ample EV chargers available across the city and the state of Washington, which makes Seattle a natural contender to be in top 3 EV destinations in the United States.

San Diego, California

San Diego, CA is one of the best places for Electric Vehicle owners all over The US and there is no surprise if we will see San Diego, California within the top friendliest places within US. You would be surprised to know that California homes to about half the electric vehicles sold all over in US within the last few years, it’s because of its one of the best and robust electric grid and its availability to EV owners.

After 2nd wave of EVs in 2009, San Diego emerged as a prominent player with a sold EV Charging station infrastructure. In 2014 Nissan started the EV charging infrastructure in San Diego with the launch of its unique “No Charge to Charge Program” in San Diego City. As a result of which currently San Diego has over 1600 EV charging stations across the city.

Over the time as the Electric Car Technology and infrastructure matures, fast charging stations are being installed in San Diego and the city now has over 147 DC Fast Charges.

As per latest data around 47302 Electric Vehicles are registered across San Diego and are running successfully on the San Diego streets, which makes it one of the best friendliest EV cities in the United States.
